While the original website and iphone app where created by ConductHQ, Dawes International be taking over the project for version 2.0 adding Android, Blackberry and tablet versions to the mix and taking this baby to new levels and badly needed features the pollmate-ecoosystem needs.

More about Poll-mate…

Smartphone users will be part of a revolution of the research industry with this week’s launch of the application PollMate. The power of public opinion is no longer the domain of the big market research companies as PollMate allows anyone with a question to target people with answers quickly and cheaply.

PollMate is a free iPhone app whereby users can answer polls and earn credit points, which can then be donated to a PollMate charity partner – RSPCA or Starlight Children’s Foundation – or used to conduct polls. The functionality is unique in using Apple push notifications to deliver polls to a pre-defined and targeted number of respondents in 30-minute batches.

Australian Julian Dunham created PollMate as a way to make research democratic and philanthropic.

“As program director of a not-for-profit leadership group, I was becoming increasingly frustrated by the time it took to get people to respond to surveys online.

“I dreamt up PollMate last Easter as a way for anyone with a question to do the type of market research normally reserved for big corporations with big budgets.

“Imagine a huge network of iPhone users answering questions quickly and easily, no matter where they are. It’s a far more democratic process, giving people a chance to voice their opinions, have fun with their phone and give back to a worthy cause.”

Pollers can target by demographics such as age, gender, and location and can pre-determine the number of responses and length of time for the poll. Results can be received potentially within hours of conducting the poll. The question/s then appears on the users’ phone as a push notification to either answer or ignore. Users can choose to receive anywhere from 1 to 20 to limitless polls in a day.

It costs one credit point to conduct a poll per question, per person at a cost of 8 per question but as little as 5 for bulk purchases. Users earn one credit point for every question answered which they can then use to run their own poll or donate to charity at a value of 1 per credit.

One of the most compelling elements of PollMate is the ability for users to donate their points to charity.

Heather Neil, CEO RSPCA Australia said, “PollMate is an exciting way for RSPCA to generate interest in our work in this increasingly tech-savvy world. We are looking forward to discovering what the opinions of people are on a range of animal welfare matters.”

“Starlight is pleased to be part of this partnership,” said Louise Baxter, CEO Starlight Children’s Foundation. “It’s a creative new way for Starlight to find out what our supporters think and also to give people the opportunity to support seriously ill children.”

A dream that anyone with a question could get answers. A dream that anyone and everyone could do the type of market research normally reserved for big corporations with big budgets.

That dream is now a reality with PollMate.

Democratic

Anyone can use PollMate to get fast and affordable results.

Affordable

PollMate costs a fraction of traditional research fees. For instance, a targeted phone poll by a market research company asking 5 questions of 1000 people can end up costing more than $50,000. PollMate users can do this for less than $500.

Simple

PollMate employs a simple to use admin interface and intuitive poll creation process so that you can easily customise your polls and completing them is even easier.

Targeted

With PollMate you can target people right from the start so that your question only gets to those you want an answer from, whether they are at home or not. For instance, you could find out what single guys in their 30s who work in a trade, earn over $50,000 and vote Greens think about your question.

Fast

No need to wait a month, a week or even a day to get results. Most polls will be completed within hours. By the time your competitors are starting to process their research results, you’ll be launching your campaign.

Philanthropic

Best of all, PollMate invests back into charities, giving every user the chance to donate towards one of our charity partners, RSPCA or Starlight Children’s Foundation

Well DiiMES 9.x is about to help a brand new datacentre automate the cloud… that right, it’s not just on the cloud, it will very soon be automating a bunch of stuff under the cloud…

We’ll be automating everything from Co-location to ISP connectivity to the mighty vBlock (private/public cloud). Although vCloud director has an ok interface we wanted a unified control panel so we’re leveraging the apis across a number of products and building an in-house super portal. This means we can bypass the EMC/VMWare vaporware and just get busy under the hood!

DiiMES is building using the web’s most versitile and rapid application server ‘ColdFusion’ created by Allaire, now owned by Adobe. ColdFusion is a pretty awesome web application server and beside having a super-charged paid version and a couple of open source versions (Railo and Open BlueDragon) it’s sooo fast to develop awesome apps. And because you can cluster and create instances at the click of a button, it’s perfect for the cloud!

DiiMES 9.01 is now in testing. Some new features of note:

English Version

It makes your web application/site load faster!

We’ve tidied the code so that it’s even easier for us to do programming stuff

Stuff like e-mail, sms and other services now can be up, even when the main server isn’t!

Development cycles are now much quicker!

Geek Version

DiiMES Framework is now even faster ( < 150ms startup, < 0 ms core page load time!!! )

Refactored code to make it even easer to maintain ( moved everything into a more logical order)

Fully implemented new provider objects including redundancy, so if one provider is not available it will failover to the next and the next until all providers are checked before returning failure codes.

Reworked the ExtJS generation tags so that they are more flexible, therefore are easier to use.

Separated Extjs event logic from display logic so that events are applied to an object rather than being part of it

Replaced Evaluations of objects with array/structure-based substitutes (makes the purist developers happier, for no apparent real world gain!)

Auto-generation of UI components and CRUD is now a reality

The ExtJS community has really embraced this site and now it’s time to ramp the site up a little.

The primary reasons for this are:

The site currently uses jQuery, which is not really a great advertisement of for ExtJS

The functionality of the site is somewhat hampered by the fact that we’re using a generic template.

So we’re rebuilding the whole site to deliver content in a much better way…

Stay tuned.
